Brooklyn College’s Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard at Steiner Studios Lot, is the only film school on an operating film lot. This newly established school will graduate its first class in 2018 and offers high-quality education at an affordable cost in beautiful purpose-built facilities. With a strong commitment to diversity – its student body is 45% people of color and more than 50% women – Feirstein is giving a voice to those traditionally left out of the film and TV industries and preparing students to tell their distinct stories. The school offers a competitive answer to more established film schools like New York University and Columbia University, but at a fraction of the tuition price.

Strategy and Implementation

GZ&A promoted the work of Feirstein leadership and students through strategic public relations, including developing editorial calendars, identifying and crafting narratives about the school, and placing stories in top national media outlets, like The New York Times. Beyond promoting Feirstein’s commitment to diversity, the agency also conducted targeted campaigns to raise awareness of a scriptwriting contest hosted by Feirstein and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.

In addition to public relations, GZ&A handled all strategy, content creation, and community management for Feirstein’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, including developing editorial calendars and running paid social campaigns to promote various happenings.
